Learn more about Alexa’s full suite of offerings, here.
Alexa is an acupuncturist, herbalist, bodyworker, energy healer, and founder of The Origin Center. Her greatest passion is helping you feel better in your body and your life. Her transformational approach to care is rooted in the premise that you are already in possession of health and self you seek — you just need some help uncovering it.
Alexa was raised in a family that understood good health was not simply a matter of good genes or good luck — good health could be sought and cultivated. Her grandmother resolved debilitating allergies through a commitment to dietary changes in the era of TV dinners. Her mother followed suit, emphasizing nutrition at home, and opting for homeopathy and rest to (successfully!) manage the various colds, flus, bumps and bruises endemic to childhood. It was only natural, then, that when weighing options to rein in her own escalating anxiety in her early 20s, Alexa would first seek out non-pharmacological approaches. This is how she found Chinese medicine. When her anxiety improved AND her menstrual cycle changed — dramatically, unexpectedly, and totally for the better — she was sold.
Alexa has been in clinical practice since 2003.
Her gift is in helping people connect to their body’s innate wisdom, strength, and healing capacity.
Her tools include acupuncture, clinical herbal medicine, personalized dietary and lifestyle recommendations, bodywork, energy work, energy exercises, and targeted meditations — an accumulation of almost 20 years of on-going clinical practice, study, and exploration.
Her superpower is sharing it all with levity, laughter, and a fierce commitment to you and your best self.
Ready to meet Alexa so she can help you find your best self?
ALEXA’S CV HIGHLIGHTS
Alexa started her undergraduate career at Stanford University and finished it at (the very non-traditional) Hampshire College. The juxtaposition of these two institutions reflects one of the primary themes of her life: academic rigor in the service of unconventional pursuits.
She moved to Texas after college and enrolled in massage therapy training “just for fun.” She put her hands on people and immediately knew two things for certain:
1) some version of this was what she was meant to do with her life; and
2) she wanted moreFour years later, Alexa received her master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAcOM) from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, TX—the highest level of training available in the field at the time. She is nationally board certified, a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is licensed to practice acupuncture and prescribe custom-made Chinese herbal medicine in Maine, New York, and Texas.
Alexa is a seeker, and she is deeply committed to on-going study and growth, both personally and professionally. Highlights of her post-graduate education include:
In 2014 and again in 2016 Alexa invested in two, two-year long mentorship trainings with Sharon Weizenbaum, a master Chinese herbalist and recognized leader in the field of Chinese medicine women’s health, obstetrics, and gynecology.
In 2012 (London) and again in 2018 (New York City) Alexa invested in a year-long course of specialized study with recognized leader in Chinese medicine dermatology, Mazin Al-Khafaji. Successful completion of Al-Khafaji’s rigorous examination earned her place as a recommended provider in the International TCM Dermatology Association.
